Built with pride #7
The finale is in sight…. The customer is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new investment. It is carefully coordinated when the machine can be installed because it must be scheduled into the production process of this potato processor. And that process can sometimes be erratic, depending on the short-term purchasing policy of the supermarket chain to which the customer supplies. Exactly why the desire for this machine arose; flexibility in the processing process.
And whether we can offer this flexibility with this machine will only become apparent during the extensive testing phase. According to VHM policy, no machine leaves the factory untested. Our customer’s planning eventually allows extra room for testing and this opportunity is eagerly used to test with the product. And from behind the machine we suddenly hear the infamous cry of joy: “It now dispenses exactly one kilogram!” Exactly what the customer needs; exactly right. Five potatoes more or less; one kilogram of packaging plus or minus.
And where until recently the machine was still addressed with the working title “E-Tipr” in the factory, at about the same time as achieving this cherished result, the new name is also born: the VHM Precision Tipr. We can start thinking about the birth card!
The first machine heads to the customer’s site. The VHM’ers on site; Vincent, Jan-Henk and Wilfred, first break down the crate army in an afternoon that is allowed to make room for the brand new Precision Tipr. It arrives the next morning and is set up immediately. While the last mechanical parts are assembled and the machine is firmly anchored in the floor, Wilfred starts installing and commissioning the controls and connecting the machine to the rest of the processing line. And in the meantime, our customer can continue to run his other box tipper, which will also be replaced with a shiny Precision Tipr after a few weeks.
Of course, when the new machine is commissioned, it is once again extensively tested, but due to the thorough testing phase at the factory, this does not take much time. Plug & Play. And so, after a day and a half, the first bins of potatoes are emptied. Exactly by weight. A new member of the VHM Family of Teamplayers is born. And that deserves to be celebrated!
And of course, with a birth announcement.
